My Chins

I love each and everyone of my chins in a different way! On this page I'll describe them and their special personality that makes them special to me.

(Mu)ChaCha

ChaCha was my very first Chinchilla, a standard.  She has such a wonderful personality.  she knows her name and she is just so cute.  If it wasnt fir her i probably wouldnt have fallen in love with chins.  She has had two kits that i have kept so far a boy and a girl.  hopefully i dont keep anymore because then i expand my herd more and i dont have any room left right now.

Chloe

Cloe (Ebony) was my first pet shop chinchilla other than Chico who was almost socialized but she still wont let me touch her unless i grab her and rock back and forth humming.  i know its weird that i found that out but i have to do that for all my pet  shop chins.  She went though a depression in September of 2004 when her "room mate" died.  I put my first baby chin (Zoe) in there with her and she started eating again.  She is currently by herself because she cannot handle being bred.  We almost lost her when she had Henry and we dont want to take that chance again.

Char(okee)

Char needed a home badly she was an older chin, that i saw at the pet shop.
She has ChaCha's personality, she would come to the side of the cage to greet anyone as they walked into my room, but doesnt like to be held, like most per shop chins.  She would have been a good mom, too, if only she has been given the chance.

Char died on June 1, 2006, of unknown causes, less than a month after having a premature baby.

Chynna

Chynna was my third chinchilla.  The minute i saw her i had to have her.  I was going to buy Chico from a breeder who had to sell his whole herd.  She was 3 weeks old and he convinced me to hold a baby.  He picked her up and i couldnt believe how cute she was.  Unfortunately,  when she was about 5 months old i relized she was still the size of a 10 week old chin.  I didnt pay that close of attention til one day i picked her up and she was really skinny, skinnier that she had ever been so i took her to the vet and i force feed her for weeks.  We had her teeth ground thinking that they were to sharp and it hurt for her to eat.  Then she would wait for me to feed her everyday.  i thought she was doing better. Then Zoe was born. Six days later i woke up to find Chynna dead.  That was the worst day of my life.  I hope it is a long time before i have to say good-bye to another one of my chins.
RIP <Chynna>  June 24, 2003 - September 17, 2004

Henry

Henry is a baby that is very close to my mom.  when he was sick after is mom stopped producing milk my mom hand fed him for almost 8 weeks.  Then when his mom attacked him and he almost died. The vet's office didnt think he was going to make it but they gave him alot of care and sent him home as soon as possible  so that he could get back into his rutein with the feedings.  They have recently contacted us to see if he made it and we were proud to report he is doing extreemly well.  My mom decided to keep him cuz she had to pay for all the vet bills and i think she earned him.

why are you taking my picture?

Chico

Chico was the color chin i dreamed of, a beautiful black velvet.  Unfortunatly  he acted like he was from a pet shop.  The breeder i bought him from didnt socialize him properly. He is the most wonderful daddy chin ever, i love his kits to they are the cutest and most beautiful ever.

Charlie

Charlie is a Silver Mosaic (Ebony Carrier) male.  One of my pet shop chins (again with the rocking and humming) but he is a beautiful boy.

He has produced 3 beautiful kits as of July 21 2006...all his kits are happy and healthy.

Zoe

My very first baby (born Spetember 11, 2004) was the biggest surprise of my life i thought that after having her parents (ChaCha & Chico) together for almost a year that they would have had a kit by then so i just gave up and loved them up.  Then a beautiful little baby girl was running around the bottom of the cage one day and i feel in love with her instantly i couldnt give her up, unfortunently tragdy struct, my chin Chynna died and i thought i would never be okay again....i held Zoe and cried and i realized why i loved my chins so much....they are little balls of love.  i still cry when i see pictures of Chynna but i know her pain is finally gone.  Without seeing the begining of life when one life ended i might not have gotten though it.  I relized why animals are used in theropy, they can help you get though alomost anything....like my Zo-Zo

Yogi

Yogi is my little boy.  He is very small but great things come in small packages right? He loves to be held, sometimes he even cries if i walk past without petting him or picking him up. I think i spoiled him just a bit but i dont mind and i dont think he does either. i was prepared to sell him and the 2 people who were going to buy him backed out.  I am glad they did now.  I dont know if i am going to breed him yet but im sure if i decide to he will make beautiful babies.  He is the son of ChaCha and Chico and the brother of Zoe.

Chrystal is my latest addition i feel in love with her the second i saw her i dont really know much about her personality yet siince i only got her on the 3rd of September.  She is a Silver Mosaic Female and very sweet she has silver patches around her eyes like a panda.

Chrystal is a very sweet girl she has been put in the cage with ChaCha and Chico hopefully to produce some babies.  She doesnt liket o cuddle but she likes to visit at the side of the cage when she is in the mood.
